Cut in my mouth that was there for a long time?

I have a small cut and pointy bump on the left side of my mouth, on my gums . I've had it for years and I've never noticed it . Now I noticed that it bleeds a little . The bump is very pointy . My mother says that it is just a cut and sore that my teeth made on my gum due to the position of my lower left teeth . I'm not sure though . What do you think .
